Use it if you have it

I don't know about you, but I try to avoid paying for things twice. I am a frequent user of public WiFi access. It seems that I feel like I am missing something if I am not able to connect. In today's world of ever increasing connectivity, the lack of connectivity is the exception. I barely think twice even if I have to pay for access. I have recently realized that I may have options for connections in the future. I am both a Verizon Internet and AT&T LaptopConnect customer. You may think what that has to do with WiFi but it is actually a very cool deal. With both accounts, I qualify for free hotspot access with the respective services. AT&T has nationwide deployments mainly in Starbucks and Barnes & Noble locations but is increasing retail and other public areas for access points. Verizon FiOS customers qualify if they have 20 Mbps or faster downlink speed and their DSL customers qualify if they have 3 Mbps or faster downlink speed. It appears as though Verizon is also deployed in Starbucks and Barnes & Noble locations along with hotels and various retail locations. They have partnered with Boingo for access to their infrastructure. I have activated both accounts and look forward to using them in the future. It sure beats paying for a few hours of access and is assuring knowing that I now have more options.
